“I lost my 3 boxes and screen of television is broken!!!” screamed my new neighbour while off loading the stuff from truck. A guy from driver’s cabin jumped out and replied.”I told you that I am not responsible for packing.Your friends helped in loading the truck. Ask them how it happened.”

I heard from far their arguements while getting ready for office. The same evening with a cup of coffee I had first chat with my neighbour. “I hope you didn’t come across many troubles in moving”. He looked quickly into my eyes guessing if I already know something.”Well, I want to keep you as my neighbour but in case you move, never trust sites offering cheap movings” he answered calmly.

“I found a cool site offering low prices for transport, movings and shipments with professional transporters. Transporters were competing for my business. I was really happy to see the drop down on prices and selected a transporter apparently with good profile. I reserved the offer by paying some extra fees that came as a surprise besides paying the upfront payment. Anyways, I reserved the offer. It was the start of a nightmare. I had to move from 400 miles away to this place and as you know moving with family and planning things are not easy.My whole plane was dependent on timming of this transporter.

So first shock came when transporter called me at last minute informing me that he can not do this today and I have to wait for next week. Keeping it short, he finally arrived after a long ping pong telephonic exchanges and his truck was badly filled with other stuff and he asked us to load it with our stuff.I asked him how can my stuff will fit in your truck as you are already loaded? He replied that the price he gave me was based on grouping and for this price thats what I can get.

After a long journey we finally reached here and found out that half of our stuff got broken during this journey. We inquired about his assurance but this transporter was illegal. I tried to contact the site where I made reservation but got no customer service response. No phone calles, No email returns. After a intensive research finally I  got the number of this website and talked to a representative, who replied me quickly that we guaranteed professional transporters.Professional doesn’t necessarily means legal. Further they refused to refund any money. So lesson of the story is do not trust such sites”.

I listened to his story while drinking last sip of my coffee and asked him “do you know about FretBay?” He quickly looked in my eyes and replied after a long pause.”Yes! I also posted the listing there but prices were a little expensive as compared to the site I used. I called FretBay’s Customer Service and they told me that they only operate with legal transport companies and access is restricted to professional legal transport companies. The prices I got on FretBay was not slightly higher than this site. They had also the insurance plan based on the value of goods. As I wanted to save these few bucks, I declined their services and ended up in loosing fortune. I regret of not using their services”.

I smiled while placing back my coffee cup on table and replied “Well! I know somebody works for FretBay and that is the only site promoting legal transport business and contributing in fight against black markets besides green initiatives.”

Is it worth taking high risks for saving few bucks? With these thought in my mind,  handed over the tool box to neighbour who has to fix his broken furniture.
